Orange dot persists despite disabling mic and camera permissions

I have switched off permisson for all apps for mic & camer, but the orange dot is permanently on… it never switches off. Howcome it’s

permanently on even though no apps have permission to use mic or camera?

The orange dot indicates that the microphone is in use:

About the orange and green indicators in your iPhone status bar - Apple Support


It's possible that the Continuity Camera is using it:

Use your iPhone as a webcam on Mac - Apple Support


To disable that feature:

Settings > General > AirPlay & Continuity > Continuity Camera (DISABLE)
