Unable to download Apps after changing my Apple Account primary email ID

I originally set up my apple ID with my work email. Quite some time ago, I changed the primary email address to a personal email as I was retiring. Sometime in the last couple of weeks, my phone reverted back to the old work email. I've tried to correct it under Sign-In and Security, but the old email address isn't showing up there. However, if I try to make a purchase in the app store the old email is defaulting and asking for a password. I have no idea what that password was. At this point I can't download any apps or make any in-app purchases.

Am no expert in this area, yet your request deserves some response.

You may want to see if you can log-in to your online Apple Account, and check or edit the details you have on file.

Apple Account Log-In: https://account.apple.com/


If your newer email address and password works ok as log-in, well and good ...


Else: If your older email address seems needed: See if you can reset the forgotten password:

If needed: Check how to change your Apple Account primary email address:

Allow 24 hours for any changes you make to your account details online to be updated everywhere they are in use.

(Else: Restarting your iPhone may update details on that)
