Removing FaceID requirement from Safari

using an iphone 11 pro running 18.1.1

what do i need to do to successfully remove the faceid requirement when using safari?

background: i added it as part of a failed experiment and now it’s just getting in the way. i’ve got the ‘private browsing face id required’ setting set to off.

any ideas?

Unable to turn off the Face ID in Safari No matter what I do I'm unable to turn off the face ID on safari. It's frustrating to have to unlock it every time. Online people say to reset the face ID and it still didn't help. Is there any way for there to be no lock at all. No face ID or passcode. I'm frustrated and disappointed with this new safari feature. How do I eliminate the Face Id setup nag (little red circle in Settings) for iOS 26.2??? In iOS 26.2 for the iPhone, my settings app icon has a little red circle with the number "1" in it, because it wants me to set up Face Id. I want to get rid of this little nagging red circle. I'm not going to use Face Id. I'm not going to use any of the features that depend on Face Id. I want Apple to never have my face stored in their Face Id servers. If the answer is, "well the only way is to set up face id then turn it off", [Edited by Moderator]

Thanks for writing in the community,

You can turn it off if you long press the safari app from your Home Screen. An option to turn off Face ID will appear.
