Why is my Android Tablet not connecting to Apple TV?
Hello Apple folks! I am trying to solve a problem - not sure if its solvable but I figure this group would know. First, we are avid Apple folks. I have several Apple TV's that control all my TV's in two homes, a boat and three kids college dorm rooms. We love the Apple ecosystem and are fairly well versed in the technology.
The problem: The product that my company sells is an Android-based tablet (running Android 10) that has software on it we use to connect auto repair shops with OEM diagnostic tools and techs remotely. I go around the country to various trade shows and industry events where we do live demonstrations of the software. I'll typically cast the screen to whatever smart TV monitor I'm using - and therein lies the issue. If I happen to be casting to a high end TV (Samsung etc.) the native screen casting works great. But many times we buy whatever we can (we're only using the TV's for a few days then giving them away) so we'll buy whatever's on sale at Best Buy or Costco, and the casting capabilities/software they choose can sometimes be erratic. My thought was that if I could get my Android tablet to cast/mirror to an Apple TV, that would provide the consistent experience I desire - then as long as the actual "display" has an HDMI port on it, I should be comfortable. The problem is, I've found a dozen apps that claim to enable streaming to Apple but have had no success getting any of them to work.
FYI as strange as it sounds I thought it might make more sense to get a Google TV streaming device, since Google builds the device and Google is behind the Android O/S etc. But I've had less success on the Google TV than natively casting to the TV itself.
Does anyone know of a way, a 3rd party app etc. that allows me to reliably stream from an Android tablet to an Apple TV?
Thanks in advance,
Ben
