Can I have folders with albums on my iPad?

On the Photos app on my iMac I have multiple folders that in turn contain multiple albums. When I sync the folders to my iPad using a wire connection all the albums show up under “From My Mac” but the folder hierarchy is gone.  I see an "Albums" option lower down but that is in a different location from the "From My Mac" spot where my synced albums appear. Is there any way to restore or recreate that folder hierarchy in the "From My Mac" section?
