How can I set elevation in meters on Apple Watch Ultra?

In UK region, setting watch region to mirror the iPhone settings will have the watch shows height incorrectly in feet and the phone compass app correctly shows height in meters. UK typically prefers meters for height and distances less then ½ mile. Height of people is usually in ft.

If you want the watch to use meters for elevation / height then you must select meters as your unit of distance (disable the UK specific option) in iPhone setting, language/region.

If using a navigation app quoting distances in yards is now unusual in the UK. Road signs are in meters unless they are in specifying miles or fractions of miles. It would be nice to turn of yard measurement options in some navigation apps that aren’t UK aware.

I observed this issue in Jan 2025.
