AirTag not updating location on my iPhone

15 pro max, latest software, restarted phone. Turned location services off and then back on. New battery in AirTag, All no help. I have about 10 AirTags and nine of them work just fine. One of them will not update location when I check it with my iPhone but it does update when checked with my iPad. I’ve tried everything people have suggested all with no help. Any body have a solution?

Let's start with the obvious, but sometimes overlooked ... and that is to check your iPhone's settings.

  • Ensure both your iPhone and iPad are signed into the same iCloud account.
  • Check Location Services: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services on your iPhone and confirm that Location Services is on.
  • Check that "Find My" is enabled on your iPhone. Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Find My > Find My iPhone and confirm that Find My Network is on.
  • Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on this phone, and that your phone has an active Internet connection.

Moving to the AirTag ...

  1. First remove the AirTag from your phone: Open the Find My app. Select the AirTag in question. Scroll down and tap Remove Item. Ref: Remove an AirTag or other item from Find My on iPhone - Apple Support
  2. Reset the AirTag. Ref: How to reset your AirTag - Apple Support
  3. Re-add the AirTag. Ref: Add an AirTag in Find My on iPhone - Apple Support

If none of the above works, try the "resetting all settings" on your phone: Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings.

Thank you for your prompt response. I have thoroughly verified all settings as you suggested, and they are all in order and consistent with those on my iPad. I intend to reset the AirTag upon my return from my trip. I am hesitant to delete and re-add it, as it is still functioning effectively on my iPad. It is perplexing that the AirTag on my iPad updates seamlessly, while my other AirTags operate correctly on both devices. I will provide an update once I have additional information.
