Difficulty stopping timer during lap swimming on Apple Watch 10 Ultra

Currently when I finish a swim I have to eject water from watch before I can stop the swim timer. When stopping at end of deep pool, having to hold railing with one hand and ejecting water with other hand, then trying to swipe across screen to stop the timer with wet hands, it can take 15 seconds or more. Is there a way to stop the timer when swim finished and then eject water and close off the swim? This is very annoying when trying to lower and record swim times during training. Thinking of buying a new watch just for swimming!

Thank you for your reply. I did see this solution in another discussion and tried it recently. It seemed to lock and close down the watch screen and then I had to re-enter password to open watch again. The timer was still going. It seemed to activate other watch responses other than pause workout. I have now tried this solution again while activating a pool swim out of the water and it does seem to work provided I press Digital Crown and side button lightly and evenly. I will try it again in the water today and hopefully it will work. Thank you for your help.
