Photos Not Recognizing A Person

The photos app had misidentified me - as my husband - in hundreds of photos. Weird, I know. Anyway, the only way I could fix it was to find ALL photos of him using the People side bar, then select all, then right click to say "This is not "him"".


Of course there are hundreds who ARE him but it seems to refuse to find them probably because I told the app that they weren't him. Any way to reset the algorithm / program so it will re-look for him without prejudice and I can label them correctly?

The People Album that had both you and your husband and already conflated his and your characteristics. You're not going to get this to work until you do "This is Not" to every picture in your and his People Albums, and don't use those names any more. If your People Album was named "vermagic," then don't again use that as your name-- call yourself "magicver" or something different. Then go through and name all those pictures with the new names, and you should get two correct People Albums.


Frankly, I would collect all of the pictures together in one standard album, and add the keyword "vermagic" (or whatever) to them. Same for you husband. Then, in the future you could use a Smart Album to find those pictures without relying on Apple's face ID. I do both. I also put the name in the Caption fields so that I can be sure to find them on my iPad and iPhone, as well.

So select all the photos of me (Steven) and say "this is not Steven" for all of them. Do the same for Johnny.


Then find one (or several) pics of each of us and re-identify each of us - say "Steven1" and "Johnny1" - let the program do it's facial recognition and wait to see all the results?


I can probably re-name us to our correct names once this is all finished.... I like things to be correct. :). Thanks.
