Updating Apple Watch 3 to watchOS 9

I have an Apple Watch 3 with software 8.8.1 installed. The watch said it is up to date. I am unable to use the Strava App on the watch; Strava said I need OS 9 for the app to work. Is my watch capable of this or not?

A Series 3 watch isn't capable of 9 or above.
