iPhone SE Touch ID issue after finger injury

I have burnt my index fingertip and my iPhone SE not longer recognises it. I cannot add another fingerprint without authorisation from the injured finger...so I am going around in circles. Is there any way to add another fingerprint?

First enter your iPhone with your passcode. Then when you get to Settings > Touch ID and Passcode > you should be able to delete your old fingerprint and add a new one. If it asks for your Touch ID, keep clicking try again until you are prompted with entering your passcode.

Touch ID for "Settings"
Authentication is required before you can delete a fingerprint.

But I cannot use Touch ID.....That's the problem.

There must be some kind of way to enter your passcode for times like this or if hardware ever fails. Try purposely failing the Touch ID a few times and keep tapping Try Again. Then you should be able to Enter Passcode.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I can get to the Enter Passcode, but after I do, it still keeps asking for the fingerprint authentication. It looks as though I will just have to use the Passcode all the time. The problem seems to be with the Stolen Device Protection being turned on. And of course I can't turn that off without Touch ID authorisation.

It's clear to me now that I should have recorded more than one fingerprint on my phone.

(I had no problem adding a fingerprint and fixing the issue on my MacBook...)
