Adding dates to multiple photos in the Photo Collection on Mac

I have digitalized series of old dia-photos. as there are no meta data available I will organize them in my Mac photo collection.

I know that a date om each photo will help to organize them in order. However to put dates of 1000+ photos don,t seems to be a good idea.

It is possible to do this in another way? I.e. to put dates on all photos from the same month/year in one operation?

Yes, you can change the dates of photos in a selection.

In Add titles, captions, and more to photos and videos on Mac - Apple Support

scroll down to the section labelled Change the date and time of a photo or video

There you will see these instructions:

  1. Go to the Photos app on your Mac.
  2. Select the photos you want to change.
  3. Choose Image > Adjust Date and Time.
  4. Tip: You can also double-click the date that appears in the Info window to change the date. To show a photo’s Info window, select the photo, then click  in the toolbar.
  5. Enter the date and time you want in the Adjusted field.
  6. Click a time zone on the map and choose the closest city, if necessary.
  7. Click Adjust.
