Watching a apple series
when watching a series, it doesn’t track what I’ve watched already. There’s no inclination I have to manually keep track of it. Am I missing a setting?

If this is happening on your Apple TV box, then please verify if the setting is correct for updating that metric:
Settings﹥Apps﹥TV app﹥Use Play History﹥On
This is a per-device setting, so if you sometimes watch something somewhere else, then you may need to verify there as well.
This is a per-account setting, so if a different account was active on a multi-account device, then it may not track it for your account.
If none of the above applies, then try signing out for your account, then sign in again, to refresh the account properties.
