Missing photos in Photos app on my Mac running macOS Ventura

I have a couple of thousand photos stored on my MAC Ventura 13.7.2 OS. Somehow at some unknown time I seemed to have lost access to many, many more. I use Photos as my screensaver and these photos I no longer seem to be able to find show on the screensaver. Where are they?!? Thank you!!!

What "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus do you suggest?

NONE! They are to be avoided.

Do you see any photos in your library? Launch Photos with the Option key held down and see if you have other libraries listed in the Choose Library window. One of them may have all of the photos.

Otherwise, enter Time Machine and go back to just prior to the problem happening. Restore the library, choosing to keep both, and see if the restored library has all of the photos. If so you can import your current library into the restored one to get the new photos added since the problem occurred - if any.

Hello Old Toad, I tried the Option+Command and I'm still not seeing the missing photos. What "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus do you suggest? Another thing I thought of: my MAC launchpad used to have a different "photo" listed and I vaguely remember something happening with that done by Apple. I'm just so confused that the missing photos are in the computer somewhere since they pop up on the screensaver.
