Is this an Apple Pay scam?

I got this text today…

from this number…. +1 (205) 581-6***

Important: $171.30 was charged to your Apple ID via Apple Pay. Contact Apple Support if this wasn't you (877) 683-1***

I called the 877 number and a foreign accent said… ‘welcome to customer service’. I asked who’s customer service? The person replied… “apple customer service”. I said, I must have the wrong number, then he said, ‘which customer service are you looking for?’ I didn’t answer… he said something to someone else, and I heard a lot of other operators… yacking… I hung up.

Is this a scam?

Do not call the number! Never interact with those messages. That is a scam attempt.

I just got that one too and stupid me called and followed some directions I might be screwed huh. I removed the app so hopefully they don’t have access anymore

Can you also report pfishing texts to apple pay? I got one from 9**-8**-***3 and I don't even use Apply pay for anything....telling me to call Apple Support at 8**-5**-***6

I have gotten this several times. I would not answer something that came from ".ru", especially as the message does not look like any correspondence I ever had with Apple.
