The IMEI number or serial number will not help at all. It is FindMy that is used to track the device and of course you would have needed to have it turned on.

Realistically, you will never see the phone again. Most stolen phones are not recovered. You can use Activation Lock and blacklisting to make the phone less useful (and with any luck, less valuable to the thief).
If you do see a location, do not go there in person to confront criminals. You might lose a lot more than a phone.
The only way you can track your iPhone is with Find My. Though it’s unlikely that your stolen iPhone will be recovered.
In the meantime, you should turn on Lost Mode, report your iPhone stolen to your carrier and local law enforcement.
If a location for your iPhone shows up, do not try to recover your iPhone as that can put your safety at risk.
You may get some messages claiming to be from Apple or Apple Support stating your iPhone has been found, but do not interact with those or click any links. That is the thief which is trying to get you to remove your iPhone from Find My, making the device fully usable to them.
