Sync Library Setting not showing up for Apple Music (but have iTunes Match subscription)
I purchased a new iPad and noticed that my Apple Music app was not updating with my songs and playlists that should be managed by my iTunes Match subscription in the cloud. Everything was empty except a banner to subscribe to Apple Music. There was a clear problem since my setting under Music did not display the "Sync Library" toggle. In fact the whole Library section of the settings was not showing.
I performed the initial troubleshooting steps:
- Confirm my AppleID account was consistent across my devices and the new iPad
- Confirm my iTunes subscription was active
- Confirm Music was enabled under iCloud sync
Still no success so I reached out to Apple chat support and they helped me resolve the issue by following these steps:
- Go to Settings, click on your name
- Go to Media & Purchases
- Sign out of your Apple ID account
- Sign back in to your Apple ID account
- Give it a few moments to refresh
- Validate by going to Music settings and you'll see the Sync Library setting appear
- Finally, let your device sync the songs and playlists
