IPad Air M2 has limited screen brightness. Defective?

My new IPad air is difficult to read in direct sunlight. It is set at light appearance and the night shift is off. With the IPad Air M2 screen brightness at maximum, the screen is only about one half as bright as my spouses IPad. The online Apple customer service checked the IPad Air M2 and I was told that the software and hardware were okay. Is there anything else I can do to check it?

You might be best advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to perform a hands-on assessment that is otherwise impossible to achieve with a remote test.

If your iPad is determined to have a fault, you will be in the best possible place to explore your available options.
