i need to send a fax to the IRS- yep it is either fax them or send by snail mail. I am on a small out island in the Bahamas. Mailing from here is impossible & no one has a fax machine. I heard that i can use an app but want to ensure that what i choose is safe & easy to use. I would greatly appreciate info from anyone that uses such app.

The last time I had to fax something (it was an equally stupid situation), I signed up for a free trial on one of the online faxing services. I uploaded my 40-page document and was able to have it faxed. I then immediately canceled the service. I honestly don't remember which service it was. Any one with a free trial and a reasonable privacy policy is all you need.
Open your phone's App Store app and search for "fax from iPhone." There are several apps shown. I have not used any of them so you should web-research them first for pros and cons.
I have used eFax to send/receive faxes from/to my Mac. I have never used the iPhone app. I’ve been satisfied with their service and capabilities.
