Unable to log into App Store from OSX 10.12.6 (Sierra) as of January 27, 2025
I wanted to see if there are any legacy Mac users out there running OSX 10.12.6 (I'm on a late 2009 29" iMac i7) that might be having the same issue. I am trying open an app that is requiring me to connect to the App Store using my login credentials to confirm my ownership of the app. It's the general App Store sign in dialog. After I enter my Apple ID and Password, I get the following error dialog, "An unexpected error occurred while signing in. The data couldn't be read because it isn't in the correct format." Once I dismiss the dialog the app closes. I get the same error when I try to log directly into the app store from within the app store app, so the problem is connecting to the App Store. I've tried rebooting, logging in as a different use, same problem. I can log into iTunes using the same login dialog from within iTunes, so the problem is specific to the App Store.
Maybe Apple no longer supports accessing the App Store from OSX 10.12.6 but just checking to see if anyone else has this issue.
I know I should get a new Mac, but I am using the legacy PhoneValet program and it doesn't run on any OSX later than 10.12.
Thanks!
