Why doesn’t Siri announce phone calls when I’m wearing AirPods Pro 2

My AirPods Pro 2 won’t allow Siri to announce phone calls while I’m wearing them . All of the settings are as they should be to allow me to hear announcements

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 18

iPhone or iPad: Go to Settings > Siri (or Apple Intelligence & Siri) > Announce Calls or Announce Notifications, then choose the settings you want. For example, choose Headphones Only or turn on Headphones if you only want Siri to announce calls or notifications while you're wearing your AirPods.
