iMac M1 Screen Flickering Below Menu Bar After macOS Sequoia 15.3 Update

Hello,

I purchased my iMac M1 in November 2021, and today (January 30, 2025), I noticed a screen flickering issue after turning it on from a shutdown overnight. The entire screen flickers heavily, and a horizontal black line appears just below the menu bar.

I recently updated to macOS Sequoia 15.3 on January 28, and I suspect the issue may be related to the update. The flickering temporarily stops after shutting down or putting the iMac to sleep, but it returns after a few hours of use.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks!

iMac 24″, macOS 15.3

I’ve been monitoring the issue, and I noticed that the screen flickering stops when waking the iMac from sleep mode. However, after approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, the flickering starts again, making it difficult to use the iMac for extended periods.

Given that this issue began after the macOS 15.3 update and the increased memory usage of certain processes (TGOnDeviceInferenceProviderService and mediaanalysisd), I suspect that Apple Intelligence features introduced in macOS 15 might be affecting my GPU.

Is anyone else noticing similar GPU-related issues or excessive memory usage in Activity Monitor?
