Printer window doesn't close automatically after printing

I have a fairly new EPSON ET-8500 printer. I've had Epson printers before. Until recently, when I printed something and the printer window automatically launched to show the progress of the print, that window automatically closed afterwards. Now it's not and it's very annoying to have to close it manually each time. I've contacted Epson but they can't help. I've looked in their manual. No use. Epson suggested I contact Apple! Anyone got any ideas? I've looked for various settings. On the Mac I can't see the Printer Utility app that allows you to tailor settings (got several other Epson apps, but not that one). Help!

iMac 27″, macOS 15.1

I currently use a Samsung ML-2955ND laser on macOS 15.3. It is configured as a networked AirPrint device and the print progress panel disappears after each print submission has finished. Either Epson has been zooming you and wrongly pointing the finger at Apple, or as has been suggested, configure your wireless ET-8500 for AirPrint (no USB connection) and watch that progress window disappear as expected.

With the printer on and configured for wireless, visit System Settings > Printers & Scanners panel, you right-click on the existing ET-8500 entry and select Remove Printer… Follow through with the subsequent dialog, and then click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax… button. You should see a new Add panel with your ET-8500 entry with a Bonjour detection on the network. When you click that ET-8500 entry, there will be automatic activity in the Use: select and it should configure the ET-8500 for AirPrint. Then just click Add and you should have an operational printer.

The scanning functionality provides support for Apple's Image Capture, or the optional VueScan Professional if you have that software.

You should be able to Print & Scan without additional Epson software.

If your iMac is still on macOS 15.1, then update it to the latest macOS 15.3 version.

If removing the printing software and updating to the latest macOS 15.3 doesn't fix..?
