iPhone 15 Notes not synchronising to iCloud

Hi

My new iPhone 15 Notes is not synchronising to iCloud. Which means any changes on the iPhone or new files do not appear on the iPad nor in my Windows browser.

However, the other way works. As changes on the iPad or in my Windows browser to a Notes document filter through to the iPhone. As do new files created on the iPad or in my Windows browser.

For the record, Messages/Texts are synchronising and appear on my iPad.

Is there a setting I've missed. My old iPhone never had this problem.

Problem resolved:

Despite my iPad & Laptop Notes being able to synchronise with each other but not the iPhone, it seems by upgrading my iCloud storage from 5GB to 50GB has fixed the problem of the iPhone not being able to do it the other way. I'm sure there is a technical reason for it to work this way, but life's too short to spend time searching for it.

Maybe this will help someone else.

I just encountered the same problem with ios18.3.

I spent hours looking for a solution.

Finally found my solution: "Create a new note" then "Move Note" to any folder and the notes will immediately start syncing with iCloud and everything will be fine.

Hopefully this will help someone.

Do not allow time to elapse. “Tell” now.

Hopefully your new iPhone is using iOS 18(.3).

Check Settings > Apps > Notes > Default Account on the iPhone and be certain it is set to “iCloud”.

Also, you can brush aside the “iCloud storage is full” message, but certainly if indeed your iCloud storage is full, you may well see exactly the behavior you’re experiencing.

Open the Notes app on your iPhone. Tap “<Folders” in the upper left. Hopefully you see only these two entries.

Might using shared notes be relevant to what’s happening? Might there be some misplacement of notes, landing in some unexpected location? Or perhaps there’s a mistake in shared folder permissions?

Thanks for responding, sberman.

The Default Account is already set to iCloud and I am on iOS 18.3. I have also made sure all the relevant settings on the iPad match the iPhone settings for Notes.

Just to recap, iPad changes update Notes on the iPhone (and Windows), but iPhone changes do not appear on the iPad (nor Windows).

These are my Notes folders. Although it says my iCloud storage is full, it has said that for a couple of years (as I don't sync photos, etc) and any new Notes files created on the iPad and in Windows automatically appear on the iPhone.

Thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately it hasn't changed the situation. All changes to the files, or new files created, still do not appear on the iPad nor the Windows laptop, yet any changes on the iPad and laptop appear on the iPhone.

I'm on the basic 5Gb with iCloud and hadn't yet seen a need to upgrade. I may well do, but as the iPad and Windows Notes can effect changes on the iPhone (including new files), I feel I shouldn't need more storage. Time will tell.
