How can I reset my MacBook Pro password?

Hi im reaching because i forgot my new mac book password, and the touch id option is no longer showing, please how do i reset my password? as i can no longer attempt the password to avoid my mac book from getting permanently blocked.

You can reset the password from terminal.

Steps to reset:

hold the power button for 10 sec after that press Cmd+R to enter in to recovery mode .

In recovery mode on menu bar you will be able to see the utilities folder and open terminal from there .

The Command to reset the password is : resetpassword
