How to view pics/vids when you search by year?

iOS 18.3 Is there a reason why I can’t view my items when I select years or months in my photo library?

When I select either, it will show items from those years/ months but as soon as I click on a photo it brings me right back to “ALL” ?

Am I missing something?

It seems like ever since iOS 17 was introduced, a LOT of things have gone downhill and no longer function as well as they would prior.

Sounds like you may have your Library view timeline sorted by Recently Added instead of the default Date Captured, which I use. That would explain the difference between our experiences.

To refresh your memory, the timeline sort is set in the pop-up menu opened by clicking on the twin arrows in the circle just left of the Years/Months/All selector. You may have set it to Recently Added io simulate the old Calendar Roll view, but you will need to use Date Captured while zooming into Years and Months, which are done by capture date.

When I switch to Years or Months, scroll to the desired year or month, click to zoom in from year to month to individual photos, then back to the list, Photos does revert to the All level, but it stays at the same point in the timeline. That's usually what I want, but if I want to go back to the month or year view at the point in the timeline it is only a click away.

How does your experience differ from mine?

OK SO I’M A DORK….. I accidentally had the “sort” on the wrong setting 🤦🏼‍♀️

I’ve definitely been on this phone for too long and need to put it down for the night. 😂

At least this issue was caused by “user error” opposed to the 10 other things that don’t work properly according to things I’ve read on here.

*I tired to edit my last reply to you but there’s no option to do so.

I figured it might be easier for me to post a screen record instead of trying to explain it and confuse you & myself. 😂

So, what I’m doing in this vid is going to YEARS (2003) then clicking on the main pic that shows up then I have to click on it about 5x before it showed what looked like there’s 8 (?) pics from that year but then it diverts the pic right back into ALL and you can see the pic from 2003 is surrounded by other pics from 2017.

No matter what year or month I try, the same thing happens 😒

And I just found out I can not post the screen record in here… unreal 🤦🏼‍♀️
