iPhone 14 Pro Max Photos app storage issue with no photos or videos

For anyone finding this looking for an answer... my answer was...

Time.

As you can see from the updated screen shot below, the space cleared itself.

It doesn't help you in the short term, but for me the solution seemed to be just waiting, at least it was for me. Whilst ranting to a friend about this issue, I went to show him the problem and the space was clear. I had checked it that same morning, the space was still used, twelve hours later the space was clear having done nothing of note with the phone during the day. So from the time of clearing the photos app to the space being emptied, I would say was roughly 72 hours.

My guess is theres something time related in the system to allow for retrieval if need be, or something like that. Especially as it feels like it was a relatively specific time frame.

Anyway, thought I'd update my own post in case any one finds it. Not sure it will work for everyone, but its what happened for me.
