Apple Watch unable to track sleep while on a ship at sea.
I work and live on an offshore construction vessel for four weeks at a time. As soon as my vessel leaves the dock and experiences heaves due to normal offshore waves/swells, my Apple Watch Ultra 2 will not track any of my sleep. The sleep tracking functionality works perfectly whenever I’m onshore at home, or when the vessel is stationary at the dock.
I’d be willing to submit some of my sleep data to Apple to help them solve this issue. Many of my colleagues experience the same thing.
I recently swapped to the Apple Watch Ultra 2 from a Garmin Instinct, which I had worn for nearly 5 years, and that watch was able to track my sleep with no issues.
I absolutely love my new Apple Watch, but it is helpful to be able to track my sleep patterns, especially whenever I have to work a night shift.
I’ve manually entered my estimated sleep time for the past two nights.
