Adding device to Find My using serial number
Want to add a device to find my with a serial number

Find My can only be activated from the device itself - and is achieved from device settings:
Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > Find My > Find My > Find My iPad > Find My iPad - set to ON
If the device is not in your physical possession (such as being lost or stolen), you will not be able to activate Find My for the device.
To be absolutely clear, to activate Find My, the device must (a) be in your physical possession, and (b) you must be able to access device settings.
