iPhone deleting pictures without my permission

My phone is deleting pictures without my consent. I want them back. This is outrageous. I’m never buying an iPhone or apple product anymore.

It's amazing what we can do without realizing it, isn't it? We are not Apple--we're just users like you. I'm sure that we all think you should use whatever phone works best for you, and I imagine that your threat to quit the largest company in the world has them quaking. If you want to make a polite suggestion to Apple, go here:

Feedback - Photos - Apple

In the meantime, you can see this:

If you're missing photos or videos in the Photos app - Apple Support

Basically the above says to look in Recently Deleted and in Hidden. Be sure to check your Library thoroughly-- the pictures may not be where you expect, as dates may have changed. You can use the search field with the date or location.

If you don't use iCloud Photos, but you have Settings>Apple ID>iCloud Backup turned on, then you may be able to recover data from the last 30 days or so at iCloud.com, but you would need to look at the date of the backup to be sure it's from before you lost the images. You should look here:

View and manage iCloud device backups - Apple Support

This requires you to erase everything on your phone and replace it with the backup.

If you don't keep your own backups to an external drive, then there really isn't any place else to look.

It is not Apple deleting your photos.

  • if you use iCloud Photos, anyone that knows your password and delete them online and they will be removed on your device.
  • Anyone that knows your Passcode can delete your photos.
  • You can't just keep accumulating photos because you will eventually run out of space. With iCloud, they will no longer sync and on your device they will no longer be saved if you run out of room.
