Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4830 printer driver installation fails

The reason I purchased the Epson WorkForce Pro WF-4830 is because it offers Draft quality printing. Printer ink is so expensive, right? I currently print using the EPSON WF-4830 Series driver, but the only quality options I have are Normal and Best.

I called Epson support and they said I need to download/install Printer Driver v13.26 My install goes through the usual steps (Introduction, License...) and then presents a fail message.

When I click Close, it presents this message:

When I click Show Error, no message appears.

I contacted Epson support. They says it's the fault of my computer software. I called Apple Support and they were unable to solve the problem. I have tried this install countless times! Each time there's an OS update, I try to install this driver...with the same results. FYI: I installed Printer Driver v13.26 on my spouse's iMac which also uses Sequoia. The driver successfully installed and offers the three print quality options of Best, Normal, and Draft. We are using the same printer in our shared office.

I have tried removing existing printers, resetting the printing system, and then rebooting my iMac (before attempting the driver installation).

This is the Epson support page:

My iMac OS is Sequoia 15.3 and I use wireless to print. I will appreciate :-) any assistance you can give me!!

... and that may be a limitation on how Epson implemented AirPrint support with this printer.

As such my only suggestions at this point are:

  • Boot up your Mac in Safe Mode, and then, try installing the updated printer driver.
  • Boot up your Mac normally, but this time, create a new user account on the Mac. Log out of your current account, and then, log back in with the new account. Try installing the driver again.

Your Epson printer supports Apple's AirPrint which does not require that you install printer drivers. With AirPrint, you should be able to print from iOS/iPadOS/macOS devices to this printer. Have you not tried this method instead?

Also be sure that the "Paper Setup Auto Display" setting on your printer is enabled, as AirPrint may not be available when this setting is disabled.

Thank you very much for your reply! Paper Setup Auto Display is turned on:

Here's the printer dialog box. The Media Type is set to Plain Paper which is required for Draft Quality. In Printer Info section, it says Model is an AirPrint printer. But Quality options are only Normal and Best. Draft quality is not offered.
