After recently updating to iOS 18.3 on my iPhone 14 Plus, I can no longer get Apple Pay to work at stores and gas pumps. I always used Apple Pay at these locations and now when I place my phone near the reader, nothing works. Double clicking go open up Apple Pay only gives me the “hold near reader” message. It’s as if the iOS update has disable NFC on my phone with no way to re-activate it. Any got any ideas?

Yes to all of those questions. No amount of remote diagnostics will fixed a half baked IOS update. 18 is the worst update since 11 and will likely take multiple bug fixes to resolve the issue.
Prove yourself right. Backup your iPhone and do a DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade). You can also wait until iOS 18.4 is released in several months.

What do you mean by factory reset? The only factory reset is a DFU. Is that what you did?
Do any of your cards work? If so, it’s not an NFC issue and you should create your own thread and not hijack someone else’s.
That’s not a factory reset. Are you saying when you go to a merchant’s location and try to tap your iPhone, the NFC doesn’t work?
Do you have a case on your iPhone?
Let us know how the call with support goes. Ask to escalate the issue and engineering may be willing to take a look at the issue.
Is your card an EFTPOS card?
OP here. My Apple Pay using NFC at gas stations and stores has been fixed (although slightly changed) with iOS 18.3.1.
