After recently updating to iOS 18.3 on my iPhone 14 Plus, I can no longer get Apple Pay to work at stores and gas pumps. I always used Apple Pay at these locations and now when I place my phone near the reader, nothing works. Double clicking go open up Apple Pay only gives me the “hold near reader” message. It’s as if the iOS update has disable NFC on my phone with no way to re-activate it. Any got any ideas?

You can try removing the case. Have you tried your iPhone at multiple transaction terminals?

Yes and I have tried it without the case. I have done a network reset, re-added all the cards and everything.
I have rescheduled another call with Apple Support - but when you pay $2,300 for a phone less than two years ago - it shouldn't stop working like this.

I am having this same issue. IOS 18.3 broke my NFC reader.
power cycling hasn’t helped and have received no help from Apple support so far.

Yes to all of those questions. No amount of remote diagnostics will fixed a half baked IOS update. 18 is the worst update since 11 and will likely take multiple bug fixes to resolve the issue.
You’re claiming misinformation as fact. Remote diagnostics most definitely tests the NFC module. If it were the update why are you the only person reporting it?

What do you mean by factory reset? The only factory reset is a DFU. Is that what you did?
Do any of your cards work? If so, it’s not an NFC issue and you should create your own thread and not hijack someone else’s.
That’s not a factory reset. Are you saying when you go to a merchant’s location and try to tap your iPhone, the NFC doesn’t work?
Is your card an EFTPOS card?
