Unable to log into iCloud on MacBook Pro running Monterey 12.7.6

I've tried the proposed fix for a similar problem by downloading the certificate, but that didn't solve the problem so I tried the pythin script below - when I follow the first step, typing "sudo su -" in the terminal command line, I get asked for password but when I enter it, it asks me for new password and this was not mentioned in any of the other comments. Any suggestions?

Cannot log in to iCloud on macOS Yosemite I have set up on older MacBook Pro 2010 with a clean install of Yosemite 10.10.5. The whole purpose of this setup is to be able to access older software and older client files. This mac will NOT and CANNOT be updated to a newer OS for this reason. It needs to stay right where I have it. That being said, I cannot login to iCloud. The username and password are correct, but it won't let me in. I do not want to change the password as I am using many newer devices and I know for a fact that changing the password across all devices will not solve this problem. It seems like it's an issue with this older macOS. Any suggestions or solutions?

Can't login icloud on MAC OS Yosemite 10.10.5 Tried everthing! Mac 15 years old..... I am trying to close down an old Mac and can't like to anything to ensure everything uploaded to icloud etc but if I try to do anything it asks me to login, password incorrect, takes me through to recover apple ID, enter email etc but as soon as I click on the page it takes me through to apple store?? Click on support, says it can't connect to server.support etc. My password is correct, have tried re=setting, adding code to password numerous times, no luck at all!! Help please!

Is this simply a misleading message? This Mac can’t connect to iCloud because of a problem with “[my Apple ID]”. It seems to just need me to sign in with my account password. I am getting this in Settings when I click on my name in the sidebar. Once I do it opens a window showing account configuration. If I quit Settings and then open it again immediately I can get back into that window with no password. If I wait an hour or two I have to provide my password again. Appears to me to simply be a timing out of my sign-in I don't see that there is a "problem" as such —and certainly not with my Apple ID—, just misleading wording about what needs to be done. Or am I not understanding this message? Should I be able to remain signed in? I posted this in Sequoia because I had never seen this until I started using Sequoia. I'm not sure if it is a "feature".
