Unable to log in to Apple store – authentication failed

Re: Apple Store can’t login: authentication failed


Could be any one of several possible reasons, and, as Apple users, like yourself, we don't have access to your accounts or details in order to check that side of things. We don't know what you have already tried, or whether you may have to wait a while after trying to log-in with an incorrect password.


You may want to see whether anything below can help you set things right.


✽ You may want to check you are signed in to your iPhone with the correct Apple ID you use for the App Store:

Sign in to your Apple Account - Apple Support


✽ Keeping your iOS updated to the latest compatible version can help avoid issues.

You can check for updates in Settings > General > Software updates if you wish

(NB: Please remember it is wise to back-up your data before updating)


Else: Restarting your iPhone often restores order when something is not working as expected.

✽ If you use iCloud: You could try logging in there to check your Apple ID and password are working correctly,

or to change a forgotten password.

______ Else: You can log-in to your Apple Account online at: https://account.apple.com/

You can check all your details are up-to-date, or change them.

Apple requires you have a payment method listed in your Apple Account for the first time you use the App Store or iTunes, even if you only download free apps.

✽ VPN, if installed may cause issues on iPhone, even if turned off. Also virus checkers, add blockers, cleaners etc. You can use uninstallers from the developers. ( Ensure any necessary non-Apple software is kept up-to-date )


✽ What to do: If your Apple Account is locked, not active, or disabled - Apple Support
