Restoring Icon to Imac dock

Messages icon was deleted from dock on my MacBook Air laptop. How can I get it back? I'm using Sequoia 15.3 OS

Choose Applications from the Finder's Go menu and drag it back.

Remove running app icons from dock New Mac and lots of changes... I now have a row of icons at the right-hand end of the dock, each one representing a running app and my regular app icons get shunted to the left. I don't want to see these running app icons at all. Is there a to stop them from appearing? I'm running Sequoia 15.1
