"Technical difficulties" Error message on Shazam

Shazam keeps giving note: Technical difficulties! Restart app and we’ll make sure we’re ready for the next song.

I’ve deleted the app several times with no results and also deleted all songs that had been Shazamed

I turned off bluetooth and it worked. I have a hearing aid and when I disconnect that and leave bluetooth on it works fine. Put the batteries back in the hearing aids and I get the error. Connection to them is overriding the Shazam one in some way. Maybe useful to others.

This was the cause of my problem as well. Read the post and immediate tested the theory, as I was parking the car at this very moment. While connected to car’s bluetooth got the technical difficulties prompt. Parked the car; turned it off, disconnecting the Bluetooth connection; song was immediately identified.

Probly a good idea it does this. We don’t need to be Shazam-ing songs while driving anyway!

But maybe the prompt should deliver a message informing users that the function can’t be used while driving/connected to Bluetooth, instead of having people troubleshooting and going thru all the routine fixes like deleting apps and restarting phones. It’d prevent a lot of headaches for everyone

After reading the replies to this problem, I figured out what the solution seems to be.

If I have Bluetooth on but not using it, I can Shazam. If I have Bluetooth on while using it to listen via my Bluetooth speaker I get the tech error. So the work around was to disconnect my device from the speaker, and with Bluetooth still on to Shazam the song. Once I have the song, I reconnect to my Bluetooth speaker.

It’s an extra step but it worked.

I've had the same experience recently. Although an intermittent issue, when it does occur, it happens almost instantly after clicking the search button.

I tried a few different scenarios to see if I could replicate the problem at will. 4G/5G/WiFi didn't seem to matter. The one culprit I seem to have narrowed it down to is the connection to my car.

I experience the issue almost always when driving. I have an iPhone 8 which connects to the car via bluetooth (not ApplePlay).

Not sure if this is causation or coincidence, but I thought I'd leave this note in case others can relate.

Well that’s a blow. Had realised that Shazam doesn’t work in the car when something comes on the radio that I’d like to identify, always assumed it was something to do with being connected to CarPlay

but recently it stopped working when at home, trying to Shazam when a song comes on the TV. Have proven it’s my Bluetooth connection to hearing aids that’s the issue, but I’ve been wearing them for over a year and this is a recent thing

hopefully there will be be an update sooner rather than later
