Macbook pro, A 1502, circa 2015, starts to boot up and then shuts down

Macbook pro, A 1502, circa 2015, starts to boot up and then shuts down. One of my first graders hit the power button by accident.

Tried to boot by depressing holding down command + v + shift.

Also tried Command (⌘) and R.

See the following Apple article for some tips:

If your Mac starts up to an Apple logo or progress bar - Apple Support

FYI, here is another Apple article where it shows other possible boot issues & startup screens for future reference:

If your Mac doesn't start up all the way - Apple Support

FYI, just try to hold the Shift key down immediately after hearing the startup chime to boot into Safe Mode. If Filevault is enabled, then you will need to hold down the Shift key immediately after submitting the login password. Then it will begin to boot macOS and present you with a second login screen where you should see "Safe Boot" in red in the corners.
