New Mac Pro won't accept Apple password

I set up my new Mac Pro in-between the old one crashing, and downloaded quite a bit from iCloud. When trying to sign into Apple (anything Apple) it will not accept the password which I use on my iPhone and iPad. I keep changing them on the iPhone or iPad and it won't work on the Mac. I could not sign into here several times and then had to click on "use a different account" - I have tried everything. Syncing is turned on. I change the password and still can't sign on. I am at my wits end. I am so afraid of going any further. There are too many Apple passwords....to open the Mac (or any device), to open passwords, to open Apple...I just want ONE password period. I'm getting too old for this nonsense as each time there is an update it seems to get harder and harder to figurer out how to use my computer. I STILL haven't figured out how to get my contacts to download.

One password across all devices is do-able. You just have to take a moment with each device to set it up.

Your iPhone and iPad each has a passcode to open the device.  Passcodes are independent of each other. You may set the same passcode on each device, but that must be done separately on each device.  Changing the passcode on one device does not change it on any other.

Set a passcode on iPhone - Apple Support

Set a passcode on iPad - Apple Support

The Mac computer has a login password that is required to login and use the computer after you turn it on.  You may set the login password on the Mac to be the same code you use on your iPhone and/or iPad if you like, but that must be done on the computer. And again, changing one device password or passcode does not change any other.  Change the login password on Mac - Apple Support

Lastly, your Apple Account (Apple ID), also has its own password. Just like the others, this password is independent of any other device passcode or login password. And just like like the others you can set it to be the same code if you wish. Change your Apple Account password - Apple Support

If you use any device to change your Apple Account password, you must notify each device of that change, usually by signing the device out of iCloud in the device settings and then signing back in using the new password.

Syncing your Contacts from one device to another can be done without iCloud by simply connecting the iPhone and/or iPad to the computer with the charging cable it shipped with and using a Finder window to configure what gets transferred. Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer - Apple Support

Normally you don’t use your Apple Account password to get into any of your devices. But should you encounter a problem on one, there are steps to take that will allow you to reset your device's password or passcode using your Apple Account.

You're welcome.

If you take things one device at a time I'm sure you'll get this sorted out.

I'll also leave just a couple more links here for you regarding changing the password on the Mac.

If you have "forgotten" you Mac login password, this is Apple's guidance on how to reset it.

Try this one first:

And if you still can’t reset your Mac login password, then see:

I am still having problems. I seem to be going around and around and around. I have tried setting up the same password on my iPhone and Mac, but the Mac won't take it. It is starting to get so confusing. There was one time it would not let me in and said the password was wrong but when I went to "change it" again it said I could not use the same password. It is just too hard. I am hoping I can call customer service and have them go through the process with me on the telephone so I can get each device set up properly. I am way past frustrated. Hours and hours into this.
