Connecting iPhone 13 to a monitor that doesn't have it's own power source

Trying to connect an iPhone 13 to a monitor using the apple USB-C to Digital AV Multiport Adapter...nothing happens.

The monitor works fine when connected to my computer.

iPhone 15 can't use Apple Pro Display XDR as an external monitor?? I know you can connect an iPhone 15 via its USB-C cable to an external monitor and mirror the iPhone. Why in the world does that not work with an Apple Pro Display XDR?? I can't find anything online showing it being done, and I spoke with an Apple rep who told me that the XDR does not support iPhone. How does that happen?

Using a monitor directly from IPad 10th Gen I have a IPad 10th gen, and pondering to get a Monitor to connect the IPad to it through USB-C mechanism directly, as we can do with a lot of laptops. Will it also charge the IPad when connected, and will I get a scaled monitor resolution with this. Please tell me if any compatibility issues with this, and maybe I will look for the exact compatible monitor. Thanks

iphones do not support powering devices connected to them, the newer models with a usb-c port

(the iphone 13 have a Lightning connector)

can only provide maybe 5watt which would likely not be enough to power a monitor
