How can I resolve audio delay issues on Apple TV?

So I’ve been dealing with this issue for years. This problem still hasn’t been fixed. I’m getting an audio delay pretty bad on Netflix. Everything else on another external device is fine(Xbox/ps5 and the apps that are built into the tv. It’s just on the Apple TV anybody else still have the issue?

Yea it only happens on the Apple TV, it’s mostly with Dolby atmos. I changed the audio from atmos/auto to 5.1 and it’s fine. I’ve been dealing with this for years. When on Netflix it’s like a 3-5 second delay on the previews, you would think they would have this issue fixed at this point you know. Going through tv speakers are fine but when I turn my soundbar on theirs they delay. Yes it does it on other apps as well. Only certain movies and shows do it. They do it when Dolby atmos is active. It’s gotta be a Dolby atmos software problem.

I use a sound bar Samsung 990d through EARC port on the tv.

Should be fine.

Does it have firmware v1016 from 2024-10-28? (I think that is the latest.)

It only happens on the Apple TV like I mentioned above.

I understand. You specifically mentioned Netflix on the Apple TV box. Does it happen only with that app, or are other apps on the Apple TV box also affected?

Does it happen for content with stereo sound? Does it happen for content with surround sound? Does it happen for content with Dolby Atmos? Are there differences between these formats, in relation to sync?

Have you tried asking Samsung Support? Regardless of where the cause is, they may be aware of this issue and may know of a way to work around that. It could be as small as a non-obvious setting.

Have you tried asking on a Samsung soundbar user forum? Other users may have experienced the same or similar, and may have their own unique perspective on this issue. Some smart user may even know a solution.

As this audio system is one of Samsung’s higher tier home cinema items, I would have expected a more flawless usage.

Apple TV outputs Dolby Atmos in a Dolby MAT stream, which is different from Dolby Atmos packed within a Dolby Digital Plus stream, as other equipment (like a smart TV) might use. Maybe that plays a role. As audio comes in later, that means that Dolby MAT is supported (understood), but maybe the change in format causes a delay?

I don’t experience this issue through my AV receiver. If some reader here has the same audio system as you have, I ask them to give their input on this. Thanks.
