Why can’t my Apple Watch 3 be thinner update and connect with family groups. I have no idea 🤷♂️

I'm not sure what you're asking, but trying to decode:
A Series 3 Apple Watch cannot run any version of watchOS newer than watchOS 8.8.1.
It can't be thinner because that's how it was made.
Apple Watch for Kids, previously known as Family Sharing, requires a Series 4 Watch or later.
