Has anyone figured out how to use the service without requiring login/email verification which sadly wants everyone to create an iCloud account?

The prompt comes up for guests to sign in, but there is a an "x" in the upper left corner on the window to remove the login prompt and they can continue to use the service without an iCloud account. They will need to verify their email address if they want to reply. Verifying an email address is typical when one is entered on any service nowadays. I agree they could make that more clear.
Exactly. Very clunky on invitee receiver's end. Clean it up & simplify it by letting a user's ph # suffice
