How can I use Apple invites without an iCloud account?
Has anyone figured out how to use the service without requiring login/email verification which sadly wants everyone to create an iCloud account?

The prompt comes up for guests to sign in, but there is a an "x" in the upper left corner on the window to remove the login prompt and they can continue to use the service without an iCloud account. They will need to verify their email address if they want to reply. Verifying an email address is typical when one is entered on any service nowadays. I agree they could make that more clear.

Thanks for the quick reply. I figured out what was going on. The person is not an Apple products user but their email address was registered as an 'Apple Account'. Seems if you enter an email address that iCloud knows about you're "required" to login not just verify your email address.
I hope that Apple will change this. Feels a bit like the behavior of the other data hungry services company and do my best to stay away from them.
I believe you are correct. The documentation just says guests can access Invites with or without an Apple Account. Since the service is new, now is the best time to send feedback to Apple. Unfortunately they have not added Invites as a feedback topic yet, I would use the iCloud section and just include the use of Invites in the Comment section.
Grievous required email login etc hoops on the receiving end. Simply send invites via text? Think again. It should be as simple as that, following the link - ESPECIALLY when sent as a public invite - but no, its forces a required email login. Great, simple app... terrible back end for recipients.
Nope
on my side when I click on the « X », it just closes the windows requiring to create an iCloud account, and I’m back to square one: the screen saying that I have to verify my email 😔😔
Any help welcome

And what happens when you enter your email address? If your email address has ever been used as an Apple ID, it will prompt for your Apple ID Password.
Yep. I went from using the app & excited to do so on a regular basis, to bailing on it. A recipient's phone # should suffice. Too bad, i think they will find this was a bad idea & will cost them most potential users...
100%. i was expecting a public link to be a public link. holding back info until an email is collected is not cool. Plus, it's just very hard to test if it's even working as intended. As the host, when i view the invite in my browser i get an experience that is.. puzzling.
Exactly. Very clunky on invitee receiver's end. Clean it up & simplify it by letting a user's ph # suffice
Personally I prefer an email address over a phone number and would be less likely to include my phone number on an invitation for verification. The platforms where I have received invites for events and parties have all used an email address. I could decline the invitation without providing any information, but if I wanted to accept, it would require I verify my email address.
The only issue I have with Apple Invites is if your email address is an Apple ID, then you have to enter your Apple ID Password. This does avoid having to do the email verification, but you should have the option to either enter your Apple ID Password or have your email verified just like it is not an Apple ID email address.
Same as OMLO... I tried my work email and a second gmail account I use which I've never connected with apple before. So, no, when I click "x" it just closes the window and takes me back to enter my email and create an apple account.
I am finding this very distressing because I don’t even think some of the guests could see all the details yet. If they were prompted to enter email then declined, I have no idea if they even know about the full 9th bday party details, Moreover, if they don’t rsvp was it due to lack of utility or because they aren’t coming?
Mom problems- whats the etiquette here? Call and put them on the spot or just stew in my curiosity & disappointment.
Additionally, I viewed my invite on my friends device once he explained he couldn’t see it & I was not able to see the entire details I had written.
the section that detailed it out wasn’t viewable. He saw a date, title, background, weather (lol) …
Exactly. Great idea app rollout, simple useful, attractive interface, yet horrible implementation on the back end. I bailed on it & haven't looked back, because of all the reasons enumerated by many users here. I would use a 3rd-party e-vite system instead
