McAfee uninstalled quits unexpectedly

Try uninstalling in safe mode per The_Knowledge_Seeker's suggestion. If that still does not work, some research reveals that there are uninstaller scripts available to remove the McAfee junk from over a dozen directories.

1) Login to your Mac as an administrator type account

2) Open Terminal.app

3) Copy/paste the following command into the Terminal and then hit the return key to run the script:

sudo /Library/McAfee/sma/scripts/uninstall.ch

• Enter the account password when prompted
• If you see an error "no such file or directory", just ignore it and continue these instructions

4) Copy/paste the following command into the Terminal and then hit the return key to run the script:

sudo /Library/McAfee/cma/scripts/uninstall.ch

• Enter the account password when prompted
• If you see an error "no such file or directory", just ignore it and continue these instructions

5) Empty the Trash and then reboot the Mac

Trying rebooting into safe mode (hold down the shift key when booting up) and try again.
