Can I trade a iPad for a laptop??

You may be able have the display repaired, however I think you will find that after getting it fixed it’s still not worth much if anything. My recommendation is if you want a Mac to save up for one and buy it.

If you're leaning towards a new iMac consider getting a Mac Mini M4 with a 3rd party 27" 4K monitor. You can use your current mouse and keyboard with it.

I just got a Mini M4 with a 32" 4K monitor and it was over $600 less than a comparatively configured 24" iMac.
