New line (return) in cell in table in iPhone Notes app
“I’d like to create a second (and third, fourth, etc.) line of text in a cell in a table in the Notes app on Mac/iOS. Is there a way to insert a carriage return to start a second line inside the cell? Thanks!” - adamgrandy
I was wondering about this too for iPhone notes. Something that worked for me after seeing your question: copying and pasting a new line / return into the cell.
Outside the table, I first put a hyphen and then I tapped the “return” to make it return or make a new line (as if I’m making a list with hyphens as bullet points). Then I put another hyphen in the new line. The text looked like:
-
-
Then I copied and pasted that into one cell in the table. It didn’t work. It put one hyphen in that cell, and then it put the next hyphen into a new cell below.
I retried this, but I didn’t have a hyphen in the new line / return. There was nothing in the new line. The text looked like this:
-
After I copied the hyphen and the new line into the cell, it created a new line within the same cell in the table. So I was able to make a list of items in one cell in a table in iPhone Notes.
