It will have short-circuited the electronics and the battery. Additionally, any water damage indicators inside will have changed.

Probably not. That is not as effective for electronics as anecdotal stories will have you believe. Rice is a myth for wet electronics, here’s why - YouTube
- Residual water will corrode the delicate miniaturized circuits, permanently damaging that.
- The fixed rechargeable battery will be permanently depleted, and would need replacement.
- Apple offers no service for water damaged electronics.
