deleted data on old iphone

i recently upgraded from my iphone xr to the new base 16, i found apple sending me a notification to prepare my phone to be sold or traded in after i transferred my data so i chose that option, i sold my phone and didn’t check if everything was deleted or not i just saw that when i opened the phone again it had the “hello” and “hola” thingy and setting up menu. my question is, does having that screen pop up mean that everything was deleted and i shouldn’t worry?

Things are probably OK, but use the new phone to double-check to make sure that the old phone has been removed from the list of devices using your Apple ID.

Seeing “Hello” and “Hola” on an iPhone does not necessarily mean it has been fully erased of personal data. During the erasure process, Apple provides an option to retain certain data, such as contacts, calendars, and keychain information, if iCloud settings allow it. This means some personal information may still reside on the device but remains inaccessible without the correct Apple ID and password due to Activation Lock. Erase your device remotely.

Additionally, if the iPhone was using an eSIM, it may still remain active after the erase process. The presence of an active eSIM means the device could still receive calls and messages. To fully transfer your phone number to a new device and ensure the old one is deactivated, you should contact your carrier to move the eSIM to your new iPhone. This process deactivates the eSIM on the previous device, preventing unauthorized use.
