Older models will have more difficulties with this task, newer models will have fewer.
For recent models:
- Use macOS Recovery on an Intel-based Mac - Apple Support
- Use macOS Recovery on a Mac with Apple silicon - Apple Support
Older models can also have hardware problems, and failing or failed hardware can be the reason a reinstallation is being attempted. Might that be the case here?
